What is it with Butters and butter? Who does a cat love butter so much? When cooking and butter is left anywhere on the table, well, you know who's lurking in the shadows or behind something - Butters. He'll sneak real quit like, crouched like a tiger (or cat) ready to snatch the butter from the pile (of butter sticks). When he gets one, he's off to the races, running off fast as he can to hide and eat some butter, yummmmm!
PurrFact: Female cats tend to be right pawed, while male cats are more often left pawed. Interestingly, while 90% of humans are right handed, the remaining 10% of lefties also tend to be male. What a funny thing to think about. Cats having preference to a right or left side.
Butters as a little wee one. As a kitten he loved to get close to us. Climbing up on anything he can. My knee makes a perfect stoop for him to look out on the other kittens. Looking down on his siblings with curiosity and a sense of feline superiority.
The face of a mouse and the face of Butter's, what is the difference you ask? Okay, here it is, when Butters (then named Mouse) was born, his tiny baby face looked so much like the face of a mouse I had no other option than to bestow him with the nickname - Mouse.
PurrFabulous: Butters was the first born of the four kittens. Right from the womb, his back legs were turned in an odd direction (kicked straight out and slightly twisted inwards). We had to gently position his legs in the correct position. We believe this is what contributed to his walk where he swings his back legs out when he struts.
For some reason Butters loves to lay next to my laptop and place his paws on the keyboard. Then just sit there and watch the screen (mostly the mouse arrow as I move it). On the side of my laptop is the vent which blows out hot air. Butters will lay right next the vent to get warm. Sometimes he'll stand up and want to walk on the keyboard which, of course, causes all sorts of crazy things, my screen flips to the side (ctrl+alt+arrow buttons), emails are fired off to all the wrong people, and important files go missing - thanks Butters (we still love you, you Busy Boy Butters).
Covertly under the sheets or stowed away in a box or bag is where Butters can be found most of the time. Package arrives at the door, I retrieve the package, promptly open it up, take whatever is in it out, and place said package on the floor. Less than a few seconds the package will once again be filled for its next delivery - Butters. Sending Butters to Reedsburg, WI "The butter capital of the world" for the famed ButterFest.
PurrNews: A faint meow is all you will get from Butters. His meow is not very loud nor projects. A simple, quick, soft meow as he looks up at me to pick him up. Also, he'll get up on the foot rest, look up at me, meow oh so gently, jump right onto my chest, and tuck his precious little head under my chin to get that love he's after. A few seconds later he'll want to chew on my fingers, "No finger biting Butters", I'll profess, and give him a soft, chew toy. Have to train the kittens not to chew on fingers, very important. Use soft cat toys in place of fingers (see the orange toy in one of Butter's pictures).
Butters paused in mid-play for this photo. Notice the sneaky white paw sticking out from the lower left. That would be Baby Cakes (Baby Butter's Brother from the same mother). He really enjoys sticking his head out from the cat tree cove, with one paw out, to stop and pose for a quick photo or two.
